The STEPP Program was developed as an inpatient pediatric psychologist in the hospital setting, I depended heavily on my outpatient colleagues to provide mental health services for the children and families I treated. Unfortunately, that was often a very difficult challenge due to insurance limitations and limited availability of halth care providers. If I had difficulty finding referrals, I only imagine what the families experienced at home.
The STEPP Program was developed in recognition of this significant need as a means of providing comprehensive mental health and assessment services in the outpatient setting.
